St. Francis Xavier School has a rich history that began with a decree in the mid 1950s by Cardinal Richard Cushing to build a larger church and a school on the current site on Pleasant Street in South Weymouth. The school began with just two grades, staffed by The Sisters of Divine Providence, and adding a grade each year, until the first class of 8th Graders graduated in 1965. The 2020-2021 school year brings some changes as we begin a partnership with Sacred Heart School. St. Francis Xavier School will now be home to Grades 5–8. Students will avail themselves of our updated computer lab, a new science lab, interscholastic athletic teams and proudly continues its traditions of family, parish and community. Along with a challenging academic program, St. Francis Xavier School offers extra-curricular activities in the arts, music, sports and community service.
